From Catholic Scripture Study International
and St. Benedict Press
Catholic Scripture Study International (CSS) is an in-depth yet easy to understand study that is written in light of Catholic Tradition. It offers solid scripture teaching that is easy for beginners to understand, yet informative and challenging enough for the more advanced Bible student. This is the fifteenth year that CSS is offered at our parish. However, no previous Bible Study experience is necessary in order to enjoy these classes!
Classes will take place on Monday evenings and on Thursday mornings. Choose the day most convenient for you! First Samuel classes began on Monday, August 31, and Thursday, September 3. Coming soon is a 10-week study, Entertaining Angels, beginning the second week of February and continuing through April.
Lectures: We will have a streaming license so that we can all watch the lecture videos on our computers at home. After you register, pay, and receive your Study Guide, you will receive instructions for accessing the lectures.
Classes: In the past, we would meet in the Education Center to begin with prayer, watch the lecture together, and then break into small groups for discussion. At this time, we plan to watch the lecture videos together on Zoom at 7PM on Mondays or 9:45AM on Thursdays, and then, 30 minutes later, the small groups will have a separate Zoom meeting for their discussions. The small group leaders will send an invitation each week to the members of their groups so that everyone can sign-in on a computer or an iPhone. If you have not used Zoom before, we will be happy to give you instructions. There is an in-person class meeting on Thursday mornings at 9:45AM. Participants wear masks and sit socially distanced. If you are interested in this in-person class, call Eileen Finkenkeller at 817-874-3385 for more details. The homework for all classes each week includes reading the commentary, and answering 5 or 6 questions. It is also possible to access the lecture videos on your own computer to watch whenever convenient.
Registration: The cost of the study guide for Entertaining Angels is $20. Fill out the registration form online at the bottom of this page.
