We celebrated the annual May Crowning Service in our chapel Monday, May 1 at 7:00 PM. We had 20 First Communicants join us in assisting with our service. Thanks to Deacon Michael Krempp for presiding. Thanks also to Eileen Finkenkeller for her coordination of our First Communicants that helped and Sallie Magallenez and the Youth Choir for their music.
During the Month of May -- a month both named for and dedicated to Mary -- Catholics have long honored her by placing a crown on her image. The tradition in the United States and many other countries has been for school children to have a "May Crowning" ceremony, with a procession, and fresh flowers placed on the altar in her honor.
