The mission of Meals on Wheels is to promote the dignity and independence of older adults, persons with disabilities, and other homebound persons by delivering nutritious meals and providing or coordinating needed services.
Volunteers are needed to help. Every day here in Tarrant County, hundreds of elderly and disabled homebound people go hungry. Good, nutritious food is available to feed them through Meals On Wheels, Inc. of Tarrant County. There were currently 215 delivery routes and 46 meal distribution sties in Tarrant County as of February 9, 2015. These routes serve between 10 to 15 clients for each route Monday through Friday every week.
We have a North Arlington distribution hub for Meals on Wheels at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, Monday through Friday. We have two volunteers sort and hand out the meals to our volunteer drivers. We have seven routes in our area. We have 7 different drivers each day that help once a week. If you are interested and can volunteer once a week or would like to be a substitute, please call Terry Johnson at 817-861-0679 (H) or Cathy Wilson, Coordinator of Volunteer Scheduling, at 817-258-6472 (W) at Meals on Wheels in the mornings for more information. Two forms are required to be completed and sent to the Coordinator of Volunteer Scheduling, Cathy Wilson, at [email protected]
