Stewardship
The late Archbishop Thomas Murphy was appointed Chairman of the Ad Hoc Committee on Stewardship in 1991. In the fall of 1991, the late Robert Allen (parishioner) was invited to participate in a 2-3 workshop dealing with
Stewardship. There were Bishops, Rectors of Seminaries, Vocation Directors and Development Directors from Dioceses and Religious Orders.
The following are excerpts from the late Robert Allen’s talk on Stewardship:
Bishop Murphy said there are only two questions we need to ask:
What do I own?
What owns me?
In the last section of Hebrews, one thing becomes very clear: Love is what
matters most. If we truly understand stewardship, we understand how God loves us and shows us how we are to love God and neighbor.
Bishop Fulton J. Sheen said that
“Charity is a quality of the soul rather than a good deed.”
“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” Matthew 6:21
Prayer: Lord Jesus grant me a new heart; a heart that desires only you. Amen
