The purpose of the Columbarium is to provide a place on the Church property for the preservation of the ashes of cremation for Church members and their families. The Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church Columbarium is an answer to the age-old concern of the Christian community to participate in the proper disposition of the earthly remains of those who have shared the fellowship. This is to be a place, especially for those who love Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and have a sense of closeness to it, which they would like to preserve even after death. It shall be hallowed ground, sacred to the memory of those who have departed from our midst.
Our Columbarium will be constructed on the sacred grounds of the prayer garden west of the church. Preliminary designs have already been completed and sales of the individual niches have begun. We received approval from the diocese to engage in contract negotiations with the company that will construct our Columbarium. Once a contract is agreed upon, we will award the contract through our general contractor and commence with our St. Michael the Archangel section construction.
Once the contract is approved, it will be about 6 months before the Austin factory will provide the niches on site. During this time, site preparation and wall construction will begin at MBS.
We also have good news about the pricing for single occupancy niches. The cost of a niche to hold one urn has changed to $2500. Single niches are reserved in the bottom row of each columbarium section. Please see the new price list to the left.
Below we have provided some general information.
1. Members of the parish and their immediate family may purchase niches. (See the policy for the definition of an eligible person.)
2. Over forty niches have already been sold but more sales are required before construction can begin.
3. At this time, each niche costs $3,500. A maximum of two urns may be placed in the niche.
4. Purchasing early takes a tremendous burden off a spouse and/or children making decisions under pressure at the time of a loved one’s passing.
Appointments can be scheduled to purchase a niche, ask questions, or just review the location of the niches in the columbarium. Please contact one of the following Parish Columbarium Committee members.
